My biggest supporter & one of the reasons it's worth it to pour myself out of a comfortable, warm bed at dawn to be healthy.
Welcome to my running blog! My name is Mark & I'm a long distance runner with a passion for exploring anything related to fitness, health & running. Please join me on the trails & roads of upstate NY where l'll talk about my life, my loves & whatever comes to mind... "To live is the rarest things in the world. Most people just exist..."

Day 87/365
The dark place that you must go to in order to grow does not care if you're sore, if you haven't had a solid night of sleep in 2 weeks, that you had a long day at work or that you feel like you're getting sick. So just growl back...

Day 58/365
Always difficult to know if you're on the right path. So many twists, turns & setbacks. Sometimes you feel like you're out there all by yourself. But thankfully, sometimes you get a brief glimpse of what your bright future will be. Great day & happy to know my compass is pointed towards happiness.

Day 57/365
Got a later start than usual tonight. Was rewarded with this beautiful ending & the beginning of a surprise extended vacation.

Day 54/365
Rochester beat a temperature record today that's stood for 95 years. Couldn't miss an opportunity to run out in it. Probably gonna snow tomorrow...

Day 53/365
I've decided that I don't care very much for breaking my runs up into triple sessions. Especially when it's PT test, speed work & hill day. On the upside, only 10 more weeks of fitting my stuff in with recruits! Let the madness begin again...

Day 52/365
One of the greatest things you can do is help someone. Be that inspiration, that role model, that someone other people value your opinion. Not everyone's gonna like it, but do your thing. Hey, beat the rain!

Why yes, that is blue skies & sunshine you see behind me! Been a very long time since my eyes have feasted on such sights! Such a feeling of hope & rebirth out there today!

Day 46/365
Tough day followed by harder speed work. All my hard work out there tonight for my buddy Kelvin T Reid the Ultra Cowboy. Please read about his fight with ALS & how you can help him here: https://www.gofundme.com/kelvins-medical-fund.

Day 45/365
Happy Valentines Day!
Peace-Does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things & still be calm in your heart. I hope you find some today.

Day 44/365
Just when you think you're not a good anymore, too old & have lost your edge you gaze down the gym floor to see a young lady with cerebral palsy working her ass off out of her wheelchair despite her challenges. Never forget what you've accomplished, never count yourself out & be thankful for what you can do. It could always be much harder.

Day 40/365
Despite the arctic temperature during tonight's run I did stop for a few seconds, freeze & marvel at the amazing sky.

Doing the whole yearly physical thing today because you're a fool not to. Vitals are of course excellent, it's how runners roll!

Day 35/365
Still loving the winter sunsets. The summer ones are nice. But this time of year, these are much more appreciated.

Day 33/365
Change & moving forward aren't always a bad thing. Sometimes you find a memory that reminds you how far you've come in 16 years. Reminds you how strong you are, that difficult journeys always fall under relentless forward progress & that if you can survive 31095.27 miles, that everything else is pathetically easy.

Day 32/365
The "Dollar A Mile" jar is up & running. Not sure if I can keep it up the whole year. But it'll be fun to try. January's deposit: $93.10!
