1st month is in the books! Cold & gray out there this morning.

Day 28/365
If you look really closely you can see the snow. It's been a somewhat mild winter. Makes me scared of what's possibly coming...Snowageden!

Day 27/365
Things pondered tonight as I stretched: has there ever been a study about plants inside gyms & does all the excess CO2 increase their growth?

Day 25/365
Its been a long journey. Lots of slow uphills, some fast downhills, lots of twists & turns that at times left me so lost, but hope was found around some of those turns, it was heartbreaking to take that fork when I could no longer avoid it, but happiness doesn't come without some sacrifice, I ran alone most of the time, but precious others paced me on occasion regardless the speed, thank you doesn't do them justice, there were days where it felt like a kid to bound through rainy puddles, there were days where it felt like my shoes were melting from the heat, there were days where stubbornness overruled frostbite, there were quiet mornings with inspiring sunrises, there were surprising miles squashed between double PT sessions, there were days of running into peaceful sunsets, there were super long workouts for the longest race of my life, there were days that left me broken physically, days that left me bare emotionally, but one foot in front of the other to be the strong role model father my son deserves, to honor my Coach, to represent that PT star, to be that crazy friend, to show that anything's possible with dedication, to be the best I can be. It's impossible to put into words. But that's the beauty of it. It's my 732 day journey. Here's to the next 365 more...

Day 23/365
And so it begins again. Another training cycle, more speed work, more hills, more distance & hopefully a new PR. Thanks for the impending snowstorm Old Man Winter. Thank god I can manage the treadmill again!

Day 22/365
Frustrating day today. But the race goes on. It route hasn't always been easy & on a certain cold day in May 2003, I decided to stop running away from something & instead towards. It's an old pic, but it still makes me smile...

Day 21/365
That moment you realize you told your coach that no, you didn't need another easy week & yes, want to go for a PR in your half 3 months away...

Day 20/365
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about you dad. You were always my inspiration to be better.

Day 17/365
It's about the days you're too tired, too sore, don't have time, don't feel like being a role model, don't feel like honoring a coach's hard work, don't see anything but a blah day filled with endless rain. It's about being your own source of inspiration, about being your own super hero.

Day 16/365
More than halfway through the first month of posting a pic everyday. Harder than it looks when you live your life at warp speed!

Day 15/365
Even though it's been a week of mostly treadmill action, quite possibly the most important thing to bring running.

Day 12/365
I've experimented with wireless ear buds. But most have a difficult time lasting through 365 days of running. Gotta say I'm impressed with these so far from Santa!

Day 11/365
Question for my fellow running peeps: how much yearly "walking" mileage do you add to a pair of running shoes to account for walking to the track, into the gym, stretching, etc.? Just curious because I don't account for anything other than running mileage.

Day 10/365
Been quite a day. When I woke up this morning rifled through this month's Stridebox & found this I thought it was spot on for 2017. Little did I know that the day's events would prove it. Onwards & upwards friends, sky's the limit...

Day 7/365
No after race pics tonight! I had to thaw 1st! Coldest race I've ever run with temps in the single digits! Man, that was cold! But I'm super happy with how I raced: 1:54:52 (8:46 mile) 166/767 overall & 15/42 in my AG! Slower than last year, but in good standing as the 4 Seasons Challenge kicks off! Felt awesome to drop consistent 8:30's the first 3 laps! Powered by: Run Happy Coaching! Thanks Coach Judy!

Day 6/365
Picked up my bib tonight for the race tomorrow. Forecast: 20 degree high with light snow. They don't call it the Winter Warrior for nothing! Bring it!

Day 5/365
Even though it was extremely cold, there were moments of beauty someone only crazy enough to be running in it could enjoy.

Day 2/365
Day 2/365! Two more pairs of running shoes bite the dust with 1,000 miles on them. I still love the smell of new shoes!

Day 1/365
Happy New Year! 1st Inaugural Doughnut Mile is in the books! 10:50 mile & I came in 13/130! Boy is it hard to eat a fry cake every quarter mile for a mile as fast as you can! For once being a former fat kid paid off! Not a bad way to start out 2017! 🍩⚡⚡⚡⚡
This also marks the beginning of my new project to bring you along this running year with a picture a day! Shout out to Debi Halliday for the inspiration!
Now I just have to get Cinco De Mayo off for the Inaugural Taco Mile!
